How vipassana teaches compassion

At the end of each meditation session/group sitting, metta bhavana or the technique of giving out kindness is practiced. This is to instill compassion in the meditators; through this, we wish good upon others and basically get rid of all hatred and other emotions towards anyone else. Regular practice of this helps you learn how to become more accepting of people around you instead of being critical/judgemental; meditators feel more peace and harmony in their lives, and through the technique try to bring that same peace and harmony into others’ lives. As we learn to accept our sensations as reality, we learn to show that same acceptance towards everyone regardless of religion or caste or any other dividing social factor. We learn to see past these illusions of inferiority and superiority and practice compassion to all instead.
