acknowledging & accepting reality
Our mental state is well known to be strongly interlinked to physical sensation. When we feel stressed, it often becomes obvious through bodily symptoms; these differ from person to person, but vipassana is an effective practice that allows people to observe, accept, and overcome these feelings.
As stress piles up, it becomes more difficult to ignore it; the pent-up emotions eventually cross a threshold where they can no longer be held back. This is called losing it. But it can be prevented by allowing yourself to feel the emotions even when they are just an inkling of stress or worry that you disregard in the moment. Every small feeling, no matter how good, bad, or ugly, should be acknowledged in its initial stages, and Vipassana has definitely been an important tool in this.
